Singing Lessons Luton- beware of who you choose

Singing lessons in Luton is becoming one of the most popular hobbies in the area. One reason for this is because so many people are hypnotized by endless talent shows on t.v such as X factor,Britain’s got talent Pop idol, the list goes on and on. They see ordinary people becoming celebrities over night and start to believe the same can happen to them, which I personally think can be a good thing. However the desire of getting a quick fix unfortunately leads people to go to auditions unprepared, they take no singing lessons what so ever and find themselves in tears after being told they cannot sing.

Audition advice

As someone who teaches singing lessons in Luton myself, I would advise any one who is contemplating going for an audition, to get at least six months worth of singing lessons below their belt ( preferably with me lol) and not to leave it till they have an audition date before beginning. I would also advise everyone to ask their teacher to record them in their lessons, so they can monitor their own progress, as opposed to taking whatever the singing teacher says as gospel. This is imperative as many teachers will tell you what you want to hear, just to keep you coming back again and again, then before you know it, another audition turns out to be a disaster.

Are online courses any good?

If one looks on the internet these days, there are many courses that can now be bought promising to help one become a great singer in six weeks, or to increase ones vocal range by an octave in a week ect. I am not saying it is not possible to achieve these results, but would say however to be very weary about these offers. There is no substitute for 1-2-1 coaching, so if you are tempted to buy one of these DVDs or CDs, use it in conjunction with you’re singing teacher. Ask yourself this question, if you are following the guidance of a tutor on a DVD or CD, when you make mistakes, can it correct you? Exactly……

Final thoughts

I see so many people on talent shows, saying it’s their dream to be a singer, being a singer myself I think its great to see young people of all ages wanting to sing for a living, but if that really is the case “take singing lessons”, with a teacher whose sole aim is to get positive results by not necessarily telling you what you want to hear, as opposed to a teacher who will tell you what you want to hear just to keep their business going.
